Cabbage and Chicken Sausage is a delicious option whether you are on a low carb diet or not! If you love easy recipes and love cabbage this one is for you! All you need is one skillet and 5 ingredients. It doesn’t get any easier than that. The hardest part might be chopping up the cabbage head but I believe in you!

There are a variety of chicken sausage packages to choose from so just pick your favorite. I used the Smoked Andouille Chicken Sausage from Trader Joe’s. Most of them are cooked already too! Throw everything together in a skillet for a few minutes and you have yourself the easiest low carb dish.

There are many benefits to eating more cabbage. It’s extremely affordable, versatile, low in calorie and of course delicious! It’s also packed with nutrients and fiber. Studies have even shown it can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol. So next time you are in the grocery store throw a head of cabbage in there.

Why Eat Low Carb?

People choose to eat low carb for a number of reasons. Some do it for medical reasons, some do it for personal preference, and others do it for weight loss. I have seen people experience incredible results by eating a low carb diet. However, just to be clear you do not need to cut out carbs in order to lose weight. At the end of the day calories are what matter most for weight loss. So as long as you are in a calorie deficit you will experience weight lose. That’s why most of the recipes I feature are low calorie.

Cutting out carbs also means you are cutting calories too. A low carb diet is not for everyone but if it works for you then that’s all that matters.

I tend to feel less bloated when I eat less carbs. So I like having some low carb recipes in my weekly rotation. This Cabbage and Chicken Sausage is perfect when I want something quick, easy, and light.

Ingredients for Cabbage and Sausage

  • 1/2 Cabbage head chopped
  • 1 Tsp Cajun Seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
  • 1 Package of Chicken Sausage

Directions

1. Heat olive oil in a pan on low to medium heat. Add sliced sausage and brown for 4-5 minutes turning half way.
2. Add chopped cabbage to the pan with the sausage and season with cajun seasoning.
3. Cook down for about 10 min until the cabbage is soft.
4. Add additional salt and pepper if needed.
5. Enjoy!

Cabbage and Chicken Sausage Meal Prep

This is also a super easy meal prep idea. All you have to do is throw all the ingredients in a pan and cook it to your liking. My recipes tend to be simple but feel free to add any flare you’d like. I focus on beginner cooks and sometimes less is more!

It can be hard to eat healthy everyday but if you keep your recipes simple you are more likely to make them at home. Meal prepping is also helpful in preventing us from resorting to take out and junk food.

Low Carb Cabbage and Chicken Sausage

This Cabbage and Chicken Sausage is an easy and delicious low carb option! It only takes minutes to make and you just need one skillet!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 12.8 oz chicken andouille sausage sliced
  • 1/2 head cabbage chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Slice chicken sausage links into coins and chop cabbage into bite size pieces.
  • Add olive oil to a skillet and heat on low to medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
  • Once the oil is hot add the sausage. Brown both sides.
  • Add the cabbage and cajun seasoning to the skillet and mix together.
  • Cook down the cabbage for about 10 minutes. Add salt and pepper if necessary.
  • Serve and enjoy as a side dish or entree.
