Welcome to Barcelona, a vibrant city known for its rich history, breathtaking architecture, and most importantly, its mouthwatering cuisine! In this video we’ll take you on a journey through the streets of Barcelona, revealing the absolute must-try dishes and places to eat and drink.

Traveling the World with my Husband

My husband and I love to travel as far and as wide as possible. This year’s trip was to Europe! I know it can be scary traveling abroad but I hope to encourage you to set those fears aside and explore this big beautiful world.

This was my husband’s first time to Europe so I wanted to explore the best cities. Barcelona was our first stop on our European Vacation. I truly love this city!  We were only there for two days but we filled our days eating the most iconic Barcelona dishes and sightseeing the best spots.

What to eat in Barcelona

Our first dinner was at a restaurant we found strolling along Barceloneta called Pasa Tapas. The first thing you need to order when you land in Barcelona is a pitcher of Sangria!

Sangria originated in Spain so it is definitely a must try. It was so delicious, refreshing, and the perfect alcoholic drink on your first night. And it wouldn’t be a trip to Spain without trying some tapas.

Tapas are small dishes or appetizers perfect for sharing. I love that they are small so you can order a lot of different things to try. We ordered some classics like croquettes, patatas bravas, baby squid is also popular, and shishito peppers.

Barcelona Paella

Another must try in Barcelona is Paella. Paella is one of the best known dishes in Spanish cuisine. It’s a slow cooked rice dish big enough to share. We are seafood lovers and Barcelona is right on the coast so we went with the Seafood Paella and it was very flavorful.

Most restaurants in Spain will also have a menu in english if you need one you just have to ask. Don’t worry if you do not know what to eat just look around and see what everyone is ordering and ask your server about it. That’s what we did!

We are so happy we stopped here at Pasa Tapas. Sometimes the best restaurants are the little gems you find along the way.

L’Ovella Negra Ramblas

Now that dinner is over it’s time for another drink! We stopped by La Ovella Negra aka The Black Sheep. It’s such a cool bar with a great vibe. They have a few locations in Barcelona but I like the one on Las Ramblas because it looks like an underground cave.

It is definitely more of a college type crowd but a great place to mingle especially if you are backpacking through Europe. They have pool tables and foosball and huge pitches of beer or sangria you can order. Overall just a really chill place to have a drink after a day of exploring.

Free Breakfast

I also thought it was worth mentioning what I like to do for breakfast when I travel. Nowadays Airbnbs are just as much as hotels so I prefer to stay at a hotel and always opt for the breakfast included option. It’s a great way to start off your day and the hotel usually offers a variety of local dishes to try. We stayed at the Four Points Hotel. It was a great option for our short stay.

Bocadillo de Serrano

Right before heading into La Sagrada Familia we grabbed a coke zero and a Bocadillo de Serrano from a nearby stand. The Bocadillo is the most iconic Sandwich in Spain. This one was basically just serrano Ham which is similar to prosciutto and baguette yet it was so satisfying and perfect on the go.

Bocadillo’s are also very affordable. You will see these all over Barcelona. I definitely recommend eating just meat, cheese, and bread anywhere in Europe. It’s so good and so fresh!

Budget Eats in Spain

Speaking of budget eats, there is a chain in Spain called 100 Montaditos. If you know you know!  They offer mini sandwiches and cold beer for just one Euro on Wednesdays and Sundays. I also love ordering their fries here because it comes with fun dipping sauces to try. Even if it’s not Wednesday or Sunday, it’s still affordable and worth a try.

Lastly, and I know some of you are going to hate this but I think it is fun to try McDonald’s in a different country or at the very least check out their menu. Every country offers something a little different including beer and chicken wings in European locations.

Las Ramblas

Las Ramblas Blvd is the heart of Barcelona with tons of places to eat, drink, and shop. Some places tend to be a little touristy so be selective. Lots of places will offer tapas and these huge glasses of Beer or Sangria to wash it down with.

I know there are so many more amazing things we didn’t get to try on this trip. Be sure to let me know what I left off in the comments! Don’t forget to like this video and hit the subscribe button for more mouthwatering European Food Adventures! Next Stop for us is the Amalfi Coast!
